After the album « Macro » recognized by the world of extreme music and having allowed Jinjer to be placed on the front of the international scene, the Ukrainians are back with a new studio album: « Wallflowers ». Born from a period of worldwide pandemic that we don’t present anymore, this album is a real breath of fresh air for all the fans in need of concerts. The topics addressed in this album could be those that one would address in a real personal therapy in a suffocating world.

With the first track « Call me a symbol », Jinjer shows us from the start that they are not here for fun. This first track goes straight to the heart of the matter with a heavy sound, blast, clear vocals with some bewitching vocal lines. In short, we immediately recognize Jinjer‘s touch and this track could indeed be a symbol of all the potential of the Ukrainians. Followed by « Colossus », a heavy song in which we can find a technical guitar that serves as the backbone of the track. This track gives us the impression of a discussion between two people due to Tatiana‘s singing. The 3rd track, « Vortex », is one of the two singles previously unveiled by the band and which had closed the set of the band during the Hellfest from Home. Then « Disclosure ! » and its grunge side, with riffs like Alice in Chains, so that they crush us on their way with their power and heaviness. The track « Copycat » is a little bit faster and its vocals remind us of one of the band’s flagship tracks « I speak Astonomy » at times, while « Pearls and Swine » brings us a perfect mix between its melodic side and its heavy side sometimes tending towards big hardcore influences. This hardcore side is confirmed on the beginning of « Sleep of the Righteous »: from the 50th second of the track, change of rhythm with a rise in power, clear vocals, tension that rises and BOUM, the explosion with heavy riffs. Now comes the track that lends its name to the album: « Wallflower ». This track breaks the very heavy rhythm of the whole beginning of the album. A kind of sweet parenthesis very atmospheric, all in lightness. This piece allows us to fully appreciate the beautiful soulful voice of Tatiana. « Dead Hands Feel no Pain » is a perfect return to the heavy atmosphere of this album and a perfect introduction to the very good « As I Boil Ice ». Indeed, this last one offers us at times very beautiful melancholic moments, a little groovy and bewitching that Jinjer likes to put in scene in his tracks. And it is after that that the band offers us the ultimate track of the album: the energetic and very melodic single « Mediator ».

To sum up, Tatiana‘s singing seems even more impressive than on the previous albums. The more the albums go by, the more her singing seems to become more complex and developed. A real demonstration of power but also of lightness. As if the angel and the devil in the corner of our head spent their time answering each other. The musicians are also very well highlighted as the tracks follow each other. « Wallflowers » seems to be the continuation of « Macro », very groovy and light in its imposing heaviness. With this new album, Jinjer confirms its power and fully justifies the craze they are generating.
